Golfers excel

The guys on Saturday had a perfect day for golf with little wind, which makes a nice change; there were pleasant sunny skies with about 50 per cent playing to their handicap.

Bob Worby from Whyalla came out to play with the locals and played quite well.

Leon Fuller on hole eight thought he had a nice drive when he hit the ball with a clean hit straight down the fairway. Until disaster struck when a galah flew in the path of the oncoming ball and sent the ball in a righthand direction about 35 – 40 metres into the rough.

So from this, Leon went from having a possible birdie to hitting a birdie and coming of with a six. Sadly, the galah didn’t make it.

1st place to Theo Wegner 85/64.9, 2nd place to Pete Curtis 83/65.2, 3rd place to M. Lynch 77/67.9

Nearest the pin: Hole 9 Richard Morgan, Hole 15 No one was good enough

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
