Extreme weather inspires

Gladstone resident and amateur photographer Erin Potter decided to send two of his photos into Network 10’s extreme weather collection – you know, the photographs that appear as a backdrop to Jane Reilly’s weather forecast. Photography is a hobby and he’d never entered a competition before so he was thrilled when both photos were featured on television.

His wife Jayne said that over 1000 photographs were sent in during the year and it was to their extreme surprise that one of Erin’s photos went on to be chosen for the 2009 Extreme Weather Calendar!

‘They narrowed it down to 30 photos and these were displayed at City Cross Shopping Centre in Adelaide. Members of the public voted and the top 12 were selected for the calendar,’ Jayne said.

The 2009 calendar was officially launched at Variety headquarters on the 2nd of October and funds raised from sales go to Variety the Children’s Charity.

Erin Potter’s photograph is featured for April. Each photo is supported by a short biography of a disabled child helped by the funds raised through the sale of the calendars.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
